I started my summer off with a quick trip to San Francisco. The weather was FANTASTIC, and I really had to drag myself back to Houston.
So far this summer, I’ve been able to start quite a few projects (surprised?), and I’m really close to finishing some of them. Nothing big like the kitchen last year.
So, the Hastens mattress FINALLY arrived, and it fit perfectly in the bed I made with my dad. I ran across this photo on Pinterest and did a little digging to give proper credit.
It’s Kevin Sharkey’s bedroom. Kevin is the Senior Vice President and Executive Editorial Director, Decorating, and Executive Creative Director, Merchandising for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. Looks like he wears about 15 hats, so he needs a chill place to sleep at night!
So I whipped up one kind-of similar to this. (Please excuse the bad iPhone photo).
I have a few things to finish up in my bedroom…obviously.
I started making floating shelves for the living room back in April (yikes!), and I installed the last one today. Here is a sneak peak at that project.
While I was making those shelves, I noticed this hole in the wall under the landing for the stairs.
Ya, it’s been there for two years now. I finally made that into a space that will hold baskets for throws. It’s not completed yet, since I can’t find the can of white paint for the trim. Gosh…this list is getting long.
I bought my first piece of furniture from those trading groups on Facebook. I’ve been using John’s account to check those daily, and let me tell you that this is the ONLY item I’ve ever wanted. I was scolded by the “manager” of the group for not following the procedures to tell the poster that I wanted the item. I was basically like, “Hey, I want this so PM me, and I’ll come get it tomorrow.” I wanted to write back to the “manager” that uh…rules and procedcures are not really my thing…but I didn’t.
Yup…that’s Demi in the photo doing the sniff test. I changed the base on this piece and it is living in my office for now.
Currently, I’m helping a friend with an Ikea Hack for his dining room table. It is going to be AMAZING when it is done.
Speaking of which, I need to head over there now and finish that things off.
